[Create a bootable Proxmox iso with Rufus]

 

  1. Install Rufus on your computer.
  2. Download the latest Proxmox ISO file from the official site:
  3. Open Rufus and plug in your pen drive into your computer. Warning: Rufus will delete everything in it before starting to write the bootable ISO. 
  4. Make sure the target device (pen drive) is selected. Select the Proxmox ISO you just downloaded and click Start.

[Install Proxmox on a server]

  1. Plug in the pen drive in the back of the server and Power on the server. 

  2. Press F11 when prompted to go to “Boot Menu.” 

    • On an HP server, it will look something like this:

  3. After pressing F11, you will see a screen like this:

4. Select “One Time Boot to USB DriveKey” 

  • You will see this screen:

​​​​​​5. Hit enter to select “Install Proxmox VE (Graphical)”

6. On the User License window use the tab key or a mouse if available to navigate and click on “I agree.”

7. On the next window, click on “Next”. It will select the default local storage.

8. select the appropriate country and time zone for the server’s location. Select “US English for the “Keyboard Layout”

9. On this window, set a secure password for the server and enter the email.

10. for the management interface leave the default interface (it should not have a green dot next to the interface). Enter a name for the server under “Hostname”

11. Enter the appropriate IP address, subnet network, default gateway, and DNS server. Click “Next”

12. One the summary window, review the configuration and click “Install”
