VPN – GlobalProtect troubleshoot (for both Ensign and BYU-Pathway)

This article helps resolve common GlobalProtect VPN issues by repairing the application on Windows systems.


Background

Ensign College and BYU-Pathway students use GlobalProtect VPN to securely access internal resources. Occasionally, the GlobalProtect client on Windows may stop working correctly due to corrupted files, incomplete updates, or configuration issues.

Repairing the GlobalProtect application often resolves these problems without requiring a full reinstallation.


Solution

If you are using a Windows PC, follow the steps below to repair GlobalProtect:

  1. Open the Settings app in Windows.

  2. In the search bar, type Installed apps and open it.

  3. In the Search apps field, type GlobalProtect.

  4. Click the three dots (⋯) on the right side of GlobalProtect.

  5. Select Modify from the dropdown menu.

  6. When the GlobalProtect window opens, select Repair GlobalProtect.

  7. Click Finish and allow the process to complete.

Once the repair finishes, open GlobalProtect again.
If needed, reconfigure the portal address using one of the following (based on your student email):

  • vpn.ensign.edu (Ensign College students)

  • vpn.byupathway.edu (BYU-Pathway students)
