How to Install SketchUp 2025 and V-Ray

Part 1: Install SketchUp 2025

Step 1 – Create a Trimble Account

1. Go to Trimble’s website.

2. Click Sign Up and create a new account.

 

Step 2 – Purchase a License

1. Purchase a 1-year SketchUp subscription.

2. You’ll receive confirmation emails.

3. Note: License approval may take up to 24 hours. You cannot install until it’s active.

Step 3 – Download & Install SketchUp

1. Once approved, sign in to your Trimble account.

2. Download the SketchUp 2025 installer.

   

3. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

   • This will install both SketchUp 2025 and Layout 2025.

     

Part 2: Install V-Ray for SketchUp

Step 1 – Create a Chaos Account

1. Go to Chaos.

2. Sign up for a free Chaos account.

 

Step 2 – Download the Installer

1. Log in to your Chaos account.

2. Download the V-Ray for SketchUp installer package. 

3. 

 

Step 3 – Run the Installer

• On Windows:

  1. Locate the .exe file in your downloads.

  2. Right-click → Run as Administrator.

• On macOS:

  1. Open the .dmg file.

  2. Drag the installer to Applications and run it.

 

Step 4 – Choose SketchUp 2025

When prompted, select SketchUp 2025 as the version you want V-Ray to support.

 

Step 5 – Finish Installation

1. Wait for the installation to complete.

2. Click Done to close the installer.
    

Step 6 – Launch SketchUp

1. Open SketchUp 2025.

2. You should now see the V-Ray menu and toolbar inside SketchUp.

Step 7 – Sign In

• When prompted, sign in with your Trimble ID.

• If you have a SketchUp Studio subscription, V-Ray may already be included and automatically linked to your Chaos license.
