Ensign License not applied to your LinkedIN Learning account

Confusion about LinkedIN and LinkedIN learning accounts

Current Ensign College Student and cannot login to LinkedIN Learning

Background

"LinkedIN" and "LinkedIN Learning" use two different accounts and being logged into one does not mean you are logged into the other.

This can be confusing because they share the same root URL domain.  This was a choice made by the company LinkedIN.

LinkedIN Learning Login Flow

  • LinkedIN Learning Sign In (Input Email) -> Ensign Single Sign On -> Microsoft Login -> Church Account Login -> Personal LinkedIN Account Login -> Your logged into LinkedIN Learning.

In order for things to flow properly and allow your login you will need to have a Personal LinkedIN Account before you start. We recommend that this be a personal email address that the student controls because your LinkedIN account is your own account and can be used throughout your career. If you use your Ensign Email account there is the possibility of losing access to it after you graduate and lose access to the email account.

An issue that has happened to a few students is making a personal "LinkedIN Learning" Account with their Ensign Email.  This will cause the flow to skip the Ensign Single Sign On and send the student to their personal non licensed account when they try to login the normal way.  This causes confusion because they are logged in with an Ensign account but not having the license.  You can tell this has happened if you do not see an Ensign logo in the top right of your screen after logging in with an Ensign Email address.  You probably don't see church account login as part of this process as well.

In any case the solution is you need some way to bypass the bad login flow you are currently stuck in and will need to force your browser to login correctly. Make sure you have a personal LinkedIN Account first because you will be required to login to that account after you login to LinkedIN Learning.  To be clear you will login twice, once with your Ensign SSO and a second time with your personal LinkedIN Account (NOT LinkedIN Learning).

That link is: https://lnkd.in/gp4WmtCJ

This link will force your browser to skip the first item in the flow and straight to the Ensign Single Sign On part of the flow.  This will also prevent you from logging into a Personal LinkedIN Learning you may have created with an Ensign Email.

Solution

  • First make sure you have created a personal LinkedIN Account at https://www.linkedin.com . Highly reccommend that this be a personal email address for your account name
  • Next either open or copy this link into a web browser: https://lnkd.in/gp4WmtCJ
    • Login using the Ensign SSO.  Use your Ensign Email address at the Microsoft Account Name Prompt.  Login with Church Account after that.
  • You will get another login prompty from LinkedIN, this is where you use your Personal LinkedIN account credentials to login
