How to Run a Virus Scan on a Windows PC

1. Running a Virus Scan (Windows Security)

Step 1: Open Windows Security

1. Click the Start Menu.
2. Type Windows Security and open the application.

Step 2: Run a Quick Scan

1. Select Virus & threat protection.
2. Click Quick scan.
3. Wait for the scan to complete. Windows will report any detected threats.

Step 3: Run a Full Scan (Recommended if issues persist)

1. In the same Virus & threat protection menu, scroll down and click Scan options.
2. Select Full scan.
3. Click Scan now.
4. Note: A full scan can take an hour or more depending on the system and storage size.

2. If the Scan Finds a Threat

1. Follow the on-screen instructions to quarantine or remove the threat.
2. Restart the PC after the action is completed.
